Start your morning with a scenic drive through lush mountain valleys on the way to our first stop, beautiful Ka Lae O Kealohi peninsula, overlooking the largest bay in the Hawaiian Islands. This area is rich in legends, folktales and archaeological sites. Take in the spectacular views while listening to the vivid tapestry of legends. You'll hear about sorceresses, fire goddesses, ghosts, tidal waves, the creation of man, and much more. Then view the nearby 88-acre fishpond, guarded over by a shape-shifting lizard goddess, and a testament to the complex and unique Hawaiian aquaculture system.
Sacred Stones & The Secret of Fire After a brief drive we arrive at our next stop, a hidden promontory studded with large, unusual stones and overlooking the largest wetland preserve in the islands. This site was once the caldera of the ancient Ko‘olau volcano and the haunt of another lizard-sorceress. Explore the stones, views, and restoration garden of endangered Hawaiian plants while listening to the legends and lore of this sacred site. Last, but not least, meet the legendary keeper of the secret of fire. Before leaving, make your own contribution to Hawaii's beauty by planting a native plant!
Ancient Temple & Taro Brother After a quick no-host lunch stop, we'll visit the most ancient, preserved temple on Oahu and explore the cultural restoration of fresh springs, taro patches and rock terracing. Learn the legend of mankind's taro brother, the flight of the taro lovers, the Menehune night builders and more.
On our final stop, enjoy the fine white sand of one of Oahu's best beaches and take a splash in the aquamarine waters before heading back home through scenic mountain valley roads.
